John Romero to make an MMO First Person Shooter game
John Romero may not sound familiar to most of you, if you are not old enough to remember games like Wolfenstein or Doom but if you are into First Person Shooter games, you have to know these titles. Romero, the founder of ID Software, the developer of these games is about to return to the FPS genre with an MMO, he said in an interview with Eurogamer.
It's not hard to expect something innovative from one of the biggest names in FPS genre's history. Romero says the game will be MMO'ish and it will be a persistent MMO. According to Romero, who doesn't give too much detail of the game, the MMOFPS will feature unique situation specifics, narrative wrapper and reward/achievement system.
The last time the veteran developer worked on a game was back in 2003 when he worked on the N-Gage version of the Red-Faction game.

Despite staying away from shooter games development for 8 years, Romero doesn't think much has changes except for the 3D graphics. He also says that today's shooters on consoles are slow because of the controllers and as he is a person of the mouse and keyboard, his new game is probably going to have faster movement than today's games.
"I don't think it's changed other than that the 3D graphics have to be good and there are a tonne of basics in the design that have to be there for players to feel that it's a current game.... So I don't think there's an issue with it feeling dated or feeling old. It's not going to be an old-school shooter - it won't be pixelated. But it will probably have some faster movement than most games have right now."
